Why do you bother to pick up the phone to call the police? If the killer isn't waiting in the dark closet by the phone, the line is sure to be cut. If the line isn't cut, the killer is probably trying to call you. If the killer's not using the line, the police will arrive just in time to find your body. If a cop does arrive in time, he's probably the killer's brother. If a real policeman shows up, you've picked a winner - you get to move your victim number up by one.
