As the unique look of Scriptorium fonts gets discovered by
more and more graphic designers we've started to run into the occasional
title font that looks awfully familiar. We love these sightings -- even
more when the fonts have actually been paid for -- and we want to discover
more of them.
So here's the deal. If you spot a Scriptorium font in prominent use in a major media
release (magazine, book, movie or other commercial product), let us know
about the sighting. Before you tell us, try to make sure it's really one
of our fonts because there are a few which look a bit like some other fonts
which are out there, though there are always differences you can catch with
a sharp eye. If you can provide a copy of the appearance that's even better.
We'll pick one sighting a month and send the sighter a free disk of fonts.
It's not a huge reward, but looking for sightings might be a fun little
diversion.
Fonts which seem to be showing up a lot in popular use which are easy to
identify as ours are Abaddon, Kelmscott, Yazata and Boswell, so keep an
eye out for those ones in particular.

Here's our first sighting. Abaddon appears as the main title font on the cover of the box for the video release of the
new H. P. Lovecraft based film Necronomicon. It's an excellent choice for
a horror film title design. We just wish they'd also used it in the credits and titles in the film itself,
though the font choices there are also good, marred only by their non-scriptorium
origin. The film is worth checking out. It's a fairly substantial
effort, a trilogy of Lovecraftian tales from three directors including
Brian Yuzna. Any info on who did the graphic design on this package
would be of interest.
Keep an eye out for more sightings here soon.
